学習目的・目標 .Successful completion of this course should improve the following: 1) Physical skills such as posture, eye contact, gestures and pronunciation; voice inflection and intonation. 2) Visual message skills such as creating and explaining visuals. 3) Story message skills such as creating an introduction, body and conclusion of a presentation. Overall goal: to become aware of the language being studied, and to gain confidence when using English inside and outside the classroom. This is a presentations skills course that utilizes content and images from the textbook Speaking of Speech. This class takes a step-by-step approach to developing presentation skills and encourages students to find their own authentic voice and style for public speaking. Throughout each chapter, students will practice language and skills, presentation analysis, practice presenting, and learn how to give feedback to peers.

 Speech 1: Students demonstrate correct use of posture and eye contact

 Unit 2: Activities focus on how to use gestures: sequence, and word emphasis

Speech 2: Students demonstrate effective use of gestures

Unit 3: Voice inflection: stressing, stretching and pausing on key words

 Speech 3: Students demonstrate voice inflection

 Unit 4: Explaining visuals: bar graphs, pie graphs and line graphs
